ANNOUNCEMENTS

11 educators in Oak Hills District earn Master Teacher status

The following teachers in the Oak Hills Local School District successfully completed the Master Teacher Program.  They are:

  • June Hill, Kristy Kopf, Tom Baldwin, and Kate Burkart, all from Oak Hills High School
  • Cheryl Kilgore, Lina Jansen, and  Heather Packer, from Oakdale Elementary School
  • Loretta Boyne of C. O. Harrison Elementary School
  • Scott Chenault, Jennifer Magro, and Amy Lawson all from Rapid Run Middle School

The Master Teacher program recognizes and honors teachers who go above and beyond expectations. The program creates a resource of teacher leaders to advance the profession and encourages high quality teachers to remain in the classroom. A master teacher demonstrates excellence in and out of the classroom through consistent leadership and focused collaboration to maximize student learning. Distinguished teaching and continued professional growth are also among the criteria. Teachers seeking this designation participate in a rigorous application and evidence sharing process.

To be eligible educators must hold a valid professional license or certificate; have taught a minimum of seven years;  work a minimum of 120 days during the current school year; and work under a teaching contract or be employed as a teacher. In Ohio, a designation is  earned by teachers who demonstrate the criteria below and scores in four of five areas on a scoring guide.

  • Consistent Leadership
  • Focused Collaboration
  • Distinguished Teaching - Focus on Students and Environment
  • Distinguished Teaching - Focus on Content, Instruction and Assessment
  • Continued Professional Growth.
Help Us Find a Child

The Oak Hills Local School District conducts a Child Find Service pursuant to state and federal law. This service is designed to locate special needs students, including homeless students and wards of the state, who are not in school or who, if in school, are not receiving special education services. These students range in age from birth through 21 years and are determined to have a cognitive disability, emotional disturbance, autism, traumatic brain injury, specific learning disability, multiple disabilities, or impairments in hearing (including deafness), speech or language, visual (including blindness), orthopedic, and in other health. To refer a child for special services, or for more information, call (513) 598-2945.
