Search Rapid Run Middle School

RAPID RUN ATHLETICS

Rapid Run offers a multitude of sporting teams for our 7th and 8th grade students. Many of these teams are open to all who are willing to practice and give 100% effort. There are three seasons throughout the year. The fall sports season includes cheerleading, volleyball, football, cross-country, golf, and girls’ tennis. The winter sports season includes cheerleading, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, wrestlerettes, and swimming and diving. The spring sports season includes boys’ tennis and track and field. CHEERLEADING

This sport requires hard-working and dedicated seventh and eighth graders. Cheer season starts in July and runs all the way through February. Cheerleaders not only cheer and dance for football and basketball games, they also help promote school spirit with pep rallies and after-school pump up gatherings for all sports. The cheerleaders can usually be found supporting RRMS on a sideline, but whenever you see them around school they are always proving they bleed a real color, Red, by being true Rams fans! VOLLEYBALL

Rapid Run offers volleyball for 7th and 8th grade girls. Tryouts are held in August and practices are held immediately after school each day. GMC matches usually begin in late August. The teams will have 2 or 3 matches a week until the conference tournament in early October. There is a participation fee and students must be academically eligible to participate. 2010 Calendar

FOOTBALL

7th and 8th grade boys are invited to participate on the Rapid Run football teams. Players are taught the fundamentals of the game while learning how to function as a team. Anyone interested and willing to work hard is encouraged to come. 7th and 8th grade is a great time to start playing the game of football. The season begins in August while games usually start in early September. Middle School football includes one game a week in the GMC for seven weeks. BOYS GOLF

7th and 8th grade boys have the opportunity to participate on the boys golf team. Tryouts are held in August and practices are held at local golf courses and driving ranges. The season lasts 6 weeks beginning in early September. There are 3 matches a week and a practice. Team members are expected to be available for all practices and matches. There is a participation fee and students must be academically eligible to participate.

GIRLS GOLF

7th and 8th grade girls play on a combined Oak Hills team with Bridgetown and Delhi. Tryouts are in early August. All girls who make the team must have passed 75% of their classes from the previous quarter. This is a fall sport and the team competes in the GMC Conference. There is a participation fee.

BOYS AND GIRLS TENNIS

7th and 8th grade students play on a combined Oak Hills team with Bridgetown and Delhi. Girls’ tennis is a fall sport and boys play in the spring. This is a competitive team with tryouts held to choose the squad. Both teams play in the GMC Conference. There is a participation fee and students must be academically eligible to participate. CROSS COUNTRY

Boys and girls participate on a combined Oak Hills team. Practice begins in early August. The team has a full schedule of matches including Saturday events. All participants must be academically eligible and there is a participation fee.

WRESTLING

Offered to all 7th and 8th grade boys. The team participates in several tournaments along with weekly matches. There is a participation fee and students must be academically eligible to participate.

WRESTLERETTES

This is a group of students that supports the wrestling team. All 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in wrestling are eligible to participate. The duties of the wrestlerettes include keeping team and individual scores, operating the clock, and generally running the wrestling matches. We also do lots of cheering for our Rapid Run wrestlers. There is a participation fee and students must be academically eligible to participate.

SWIMMING AND DIVING

7th and 8th grade students participate on a combined Oak Hills team with Bridgetown and Delhi. Practices and matches are held at OHHS. All participants must have passed 75% of their classes from the previous quarter. There is a participation fee.

BASKETBALL

Rapid Run offers basketball for any 7th and 8th grade student interested in tryouts for the team. Tryouts are held in late October or early November. The teams participate in the Greater Miami Conference and play 13 games during the regular season followed by a post-season tournament. All participants must be academically eligible. There is a participation fee.

TRACK AND FIELD

Track and Field is a spring sport available to all 7th and 8th grade boys and girls interested in participating. Practices are held daily (Monday-Thursday) from 2:30-3:45. There are several events available from the one mile run to the shot put. Track is a team sport that also focuses on individual achievement. There is a participation fee and all athletes must be academically eligible.
